Inspiration
With the fast development of Chinese economy, human’s living conditions have also been improved greatly and the urban appearance also become increasingly modern. However, such a phenomenon brings disadvantages along with advantages. The modernized development has destructed many traditional techniques and make such traditional techniques fall into certain survival crises. While sighing about the past traditions, people also need to reflect over the reason why there is no place for such handicraftsmen in the new society that promotes inclusiveness every day.
Concept
In my childhood, there were many traditional handicraftsmen, such as people that rode three-wheeled goods vehicles to sell goods, people who sharpened knives for others, people who made duplicate keys for others and those who amended shoes. All of these traditional handicraftsmen’s images of appearing on the busy streets and communities left a deep impression on my mind. In the current world, the economic development has forced the remaining limited handicraftsmen to move from the city’s main avenues in the past to the modern city’s most convenient and chaotic place—the place where the city joins the countryside. When sighing about the difficult situation of these handicraftsmen, I decide to combine their past images with today’s new urban streets scene and express them by the computer graphics means that I am most familiar with, thereby reflecting over the numerous disadvantages brought by the excessively fast economic development and triggering people’s memories of the past.
