Concept
With the development of scientific technology, various products in the modern society have changed people’s life to a large extent and brought much convenience and many advantages to people, thereby making people’s life more comfortable. Meanwhile, these things are also gradually restricting people’s freedom unconsciously and make people feel that they can hardly live on without these things.
Inspiration
This work originated from one black and white wood-cut work of a foreign print-drawing maker that I saw on the internet by accident. At that time, I did not find out the drawing’s maker or its specific information. Moreover, the image wasn’t saved. However, the maker’s image composition left a deep impression on me. Therefore, I decided to combine this drawing’s essence with my ideas and took electronic equipment, drawing tool and snack, which are three objects mostly related to my daily life and things that we cannot live without, as the theme, thereby expressing people’s helpless feelings of knowing these things’ restrictions of themselves yet are unable to get rid of them.
Creative Thinking
Due to the limited condition at that time, I could only adopt the method of making the drawing without using the print-drawing machine. According to three drawing sketches, I used three different making techniques: degumming bushing printing, the colored wood-cut printing and the black & white wood-cut printing.
